EZ-Route (#9) Expected vs Actual Drive Time

Purpose
This card compares expected drive times to actual drive times for each truck route, highlighting efficiency gaps. It helps managers see whether deliveries are running faster, slower, or on target relative to planned benchmarks.

Key Metrics

  • Drive Time Difference (Minutes) – Actual minus expected drive time, showing overages (positive) or efficiencies (negative).

  • Miles Driven – Total distance traveled, including return drive home.

  • Drive Time in Minutes – Total actual time recorded for the route.

  • Grouping by Route – Breaks results down by truck/route name.

Insights to Look For

  • Operational efficiency: Consistent negative variances (actual < expected) suggest routes are running faster than planned. Large positive variances may flag delays, congestion, or inefficiencies.

  • Driver/route differences: Comparing across trucks shows whether inefficiencies are systemic or specific to a route/driver.

  • Mileage correlation: More miles don’t always equal more time; high-mileage routes with efficient times show optimized routing.

  • Trend monitoring: Tracking by month reveals whether inefficiencies are improving or worsening over time.
